Headmodeling tutorial from 2005

A very very old tutorial i did in 2005. Found it in the deep corners on the HD of and old Workstation. Due to a lot of requests i am uploading it here.

The quality of the result is somehow outdated but the process i use for modeling is similar to the workflow i use nowdays ... just a littlemore speed and Zbrush inbetweens for tweaking.

The reference images can be found on my site.

My workflow with Zbrush, Topogun and C4d.
I hope it's interesting.

The File to begin with you will find here:
christianrambow.de/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=8

-

Inhalt:

Mesh dezimieren mit Decimation Master, dann ab nach Topogun und neue Topologie rauf. SubD mesh projizieren und in Zbrush die Subdivision Level wiederherstellen.

Dann abwickeln mit UVMaster ... geht quick and undirty.
Normalmap erstellen, exportieren und den ganzen Kram in C4d zusammenführen.

-

content:

Decimate the mesh with Decimationmaster then export to Topogun. Retopologize in Topogun, project subdivs and export it to Zbrush to reconstruct subdivision level.

Quick and solid unwrap with UV master in one single click, create Normalmaps, export mesh and normalmap and import into C4d.

*Ich musste das Tutorial erneut im Nachhinein einsprechen, weil die original Audiospur beim Aufnehmen des Tutorials leider zerschossen wurde*

Part 1 > From a Sphere to a rough Bust

This is an about 2 hours long doodle/sculpting session.

200% speedup, so it's not really a timelapse ... because
i would like to have every process visible to you.

Most time using Move, Snakehook, ClayTube and the wet pen brush.

The end result is a rough bust sculpt.

And the best: No umotivated voiceover from me ;P

cheers,
Christian

Just some quick and fun zbrushing while recording.

At 17:40 starts the maybe more interesting sculpting part.

Building up a zsphere Layout.
And roughly sculpting a female bodyform.

I missed to record some steps when sculpting the volume on the hand.

... bones converted to joints and autoweighting ... smooth and cleanup weights in the mouth area. Just bind the raw data without a seperate joint for open and closing the mouth area.

I found the issue that is causing the autorig to not export
skin weights to c4d via FBX properly

The reason is that you accidentially have the default
Character_Face_Camera placeholder AND your
mesh in the Bone_Deform

Just delete the Character_Face_Camera and it will work.

I hope this will help you to use C4d and Messiah without problems now
